PEOPLE who take pride in keeping Tiverton tidy were out in force clearing up after lazy litter bugs at the weekend.

Bottles, cans, crisp packets and other rubbish was pulled from the hedges of Lea Road and many other streets by the Tiverton Volunteer Litter Pickers on Saturday.

The group says it aims to discourage people from littering and to collect rubbish as quickly as possible to maintain a "clean and attractive environment" in the Tiverton area.

Volunteers work with all groups and children and use publicity, campaigns and competitions in partnership with councils and churches to try and persuade people not to litter.
