A FINE time on the Rhine was had by Tivertonians on a trip to the German twin town of Hofheim.
Members of the Tiverton Twinning Association travelled to the German town last month to cement friendships.
Visits to a brewery and a landfill site were on the itinerary for the twinners between August 23 and 28 alongside trips to the Rhine, Erbach and Frankfurt.
There was also a tree-planting ceremony outside Hofheim Town Hall, and paintings of Tiverton landmarks were also given as gifts during the visit.
Mayor of Tiverton Councillor Tom Lindus said: "The hospitality of the Germans has been unbelievable and they certainly know how to throw a party."
The town of Hofheim, near Frankfurt, has been twinned with the town for more than 30 years.
Members of the Hofheim Twinning Association are due to return to Tiverton next year while Tiverton Twinning will visit the French twin town of Chinon.
