CHILDREN have taken part in a creative art competition to decorate hoardings around a development next to their school.

Taking the theme of the countryside, pupils from Bampton Church of England Primary School came up with designs for the perimeter of the Meadow View project.

The winners of the contest will now be able to see their artwork displayed in public on their daily walk to school.

Jane Pearce, sales manager at Devonshire Homes, who judged the entries said: "The level of talent demonstrated was extremely high. It was very difficult to choose the winners but I would like to thank all the children that entered, displaying so much enthusiasm and creativity.

"The hoardings look fantastic and they really brighten up the construction site and hopefully the walk to school for the children and their parents."

Seven winners were selected and presented with an art set with the overall winner receiving a watercolour kit.

The housing development is scheduled to be fully completed by the end of 2014.
