A CHARITY says it is seeing cases of people in Mid Devon seeking emergency food rations because they have not eaten in days.

Ruth Morley, the financial development officer for Chat, which has its office in Tiverton's Gold Street, talked to councillors about the charity's work administering the food store and about providing support for those at risk of losing their homes.

The charity says people often "struggled on for a few days" before seeking food aid.

Chat used to give out around 20 food parcels a month but distributed 10 in just one day recently.
