A TIVERTON woman suffered bruising and minor injuries when her car was hit by a driverless vehicle in an accident in Bampton Street.

A vehicle travelling along the one-way street was in collision with a parked vehicle which was pushed into the road and hit another moving vehicle.

Carol Hammond was taken to Tiverton Hospital as a precaution after injuring her shoulder, neck and back in the incident at around 12.30pm on December 3.

Carol told the Gazette she had suffered no serious injuries, only shock. She said; "I was going up the road and saw this 4x4 vehicle coming towards the side of me, with no-one in it. It was quite frightening and I was shook up for a while after."

She said she was grateful for people's kindness.

"They were so good to me," she said. "The police were absolutely wonderful and staff from estate agent Fox and Sons took me in and gave me a cup of tea."
